Lafayette Cesar Chavez Celebration (LCCC) Coordinating Council will hold the closing ceremony for the 10th annual celebration to honor Cesar Chavez at the VFW, 105 W. Emma. Chavez was a Chicano activist who, with Dolores Huerta, established the United Farmworkers’ Union in 1962.
The LCCC is a 5 week celebration that will include 16 free activities designed to raise awareness about social justice issues, create a deeper understanding about how to improve the quality of life for all people, and motivate people to take action on issues that are important to them. The LCCC was started in 2003 as a grassroots effort and is believed to be the longest running celebration of its kind in the country.
At the closing ceremonies hear stories, songs and poetry about fairness and community. Please bring a dish of food to share.
